I'm late 40s. Mortgage paid. Decent amount of savings. Dislike my profession even though I work from home and it's well paid. I'd love to set up a little business, maybe to pass on to my kids if they are interested. But what? I have many letters after my name but apart from knitting & gardening, I have no real proper skills.

what about being a personal guide/tourist guide in Lewes? Tie it in with a pub visit and you could get free beer. Or just buy to let/airb&b like everyone else with £

What do you want to do? do you have any interests?
Surely your children would love to have a happy, fulfilled parent who inspires them.
Material things can break, get lost or stolen or even lose value and become meaningless. Experience and wisdom is more valuable than anything.

If you want to set up a little business, I have a large quantity of nice pottery that I could let you have at cost price, a box or more at a time. I can send you some photos.
