New Parking Machines

I am confused now. I had accepted that we were being quietly nudged onto cashless payments by the machines not working, and the Ringo system actually works fine once you have set it up. But on the High Street today I am confronted by a new machine (out of order as it happens) with no Ringo number or any sign of how to pay by phone. So I had to chance not paying while I went to a shop. Is this a change of tactic - does anyone know what's going on.

Permits moved away from RingGo over a year a go to a company called nsl (can't remember what if anything it stands for) so I wonder if it is something to do with them.

NSL do the Resi. Permits. RingGo still do the short term parking.

Great. Are they deliberately trying to make life difficult for us? First, they introduce the parking, then they move the parking shop to an obscure location, then they get rid of the parking shop, then they introduce Ringo and now, it seems, they're changing to something else. As David says, Ringo works once you've set it up and it's more convenient than fishing around for coins. I hope we're not going to have to set up yet another parking app.

Ok, I admit, the "it's a disgrace" joke poster is starting to irritate me now. Which of course will only fuel the individual behind it, but it had to be said. He/she is a disgrace.

Paying by phone works fine: if you've got a smartphone, if your battery hasn't gone flat, if you can get a signal, if you haven't got cold hands (my touchscreen doesn't respond when my hands are cold), and if you haven't forgotten your phone.
At Haywards Heath, they've gone cashless, but the machines take card payments - put in your registration number, slip your debit card into the machine, job done and without paying an extra 40p for the privilege.
I think it's just a way of screwing more money out of people, and stopping people from passing unexpired tickets on to other parkers.

So the new parking systems gives the customer the opportunity to pay with cash, card and via app if you have it. Is there any other way they can make payment easier? Perhaps a little old lady called Agnes (that's for you DM) should appear as you park, ready to take your Green-Shield stamps and scurry off to a small wooden shelter and return with a Certificate to Park scroll artfully hand-written on papyrus? In the meantime I'll just pay and display.
