It's difficult to tell the difference between the newsy bits and advertising features.
But I do like the idea of a weekly paper, published on Friday, carrying a Weather Forecast feature. Especially one that starts with the sentence "At the time of writing this on Tuesday ..." Brilliant stuff!

It looks cleaner and brighter, though I'm not sure why we are charged another 10p for it.

If they want to raise the price, just do it. No need to hide it behind a different style which is no better than before. The usual game of "where's Wally" is the same (spot the reference to Norman Baker on each page); but take out the property and car advertising and we still have a
similar paper to before.
Not a lot.

Anyone else noticed that there's at least one spelling mistake on every page. maybe they'll use the extra 10p to buy a spellchecker for their illiterate journalists. Mind you still might be difficult to see the screen with your head so far up storming Norman's bottom.

It would appear to be an unfortunate fact that local newspapers from Brighton though to Eastbourne are hand in hand with the LibDems, hence the level of print they receive irrespective of how newsworthy it may be.

It's been declining for years, particularly since Eccles stepped down. Too many articles are from outside the area and there are some desperate space fillers, like the 'Faith News' page. No-one's to blame really, it's part of a nationwide decline in local papers thanks to the internet. The advertising revenues aren't there any more to support employing enough journalists. I used to buy it because I found the lack of stories curiously comforting, but it's too expensve now. What was it ten years ago? 25p?
