Southover High Street (The Swan end) & St Pancras Road, at least. Maybe more. We just assumed it was a poltergeist (as one does) until we spoke to neighbours. Now sound-monitoring equipment has gone into one of the houses.

That'd be the ghost train then? lol
Yes, seriously the train is only a few hundred feet away from you.... do the rumblings happen to coincide with the Lewes to Brighton train timetable?

trains travel far more often than the described event.
I know the railways have gone down hill but not to that extent.

The rumblings are caused by the vented gasses expelled by ESCC, local councilors and dignataries. This noxious ether is delibrately discharged at regular intervals under Southover High Street in the hope that all that traffic continually bumping it's way over those bloody silly speed humps and cobbles will conceal the noise.
The level of emmisions has notably increased since the introduction of the parking scheme and is now occasionally audible.

5 years in Lewes.
The trains (do they still run? I thought they had turned into double-decker buses...) are not the cause. It's like a giant dropping a cannon-ball - a loud thud, a bounce then a short trickle.
Maybe an irrate (giant) resident trying to swat ESCC highways staff?
