Money wasted?

Does anyone else think that the Town Council is wasting tax payers money repairing clocks that are redundant, instead of spending it on more useful stuff, like grants to the community?

No. At least we can see the clock. The only useful grant to the community would be a reduction in council tax for everybody (bands A to Z), or £50 posted through every letterbox.

No I don't think it's a waste of money. It's the most prominent clock in Lewes and if we can't be bothered to repair it, that doesn't say much about our civic pride.

Hear hear (or is it here here? or hear here?)
Hear here makes more sense so I'm going to go with that.
I think is pretty pathetic if a town can't keep a lock going and the same goes for fountains like the one in Friars Walk (or is it Lansdown Place) on the All Saints wall, how hard can it be to have water coming out of it?

is the money actually coming from the Town Council though?

Not sure where the money's coming from - it defintely could be spent better though - most people have access to time-telling devices and the clock can look nice without working.
