I see Maria’s not averse to playing party politics during the pandemic, glad she’s got her priorities spot on.

She is very aware of the threat/dangers of an experienced QC, to not only Boris and the tories, but herself....as she withdrew from Twitter when it dawned on her that it might be a bad idea to defame a lawyer with a doctored video. So proud of our local dolt of an MP.

Gosh you're right, Nevilleman. This Mick Symes, whoever he is, is an utterly obnoxious, pontificating buffoon. No wonder he makes you so cross. I'd never looked at Lewes Present before. I just looked now to see what the story about Maria Caulfield doing something idiotic was all about. It's like his personal platform. His soapbox. I won't be joining. These Tories eh? Whatcha going to do about em?

I just took a look at the FB page out of curiosity (some also call it boredom) - yep, its a right-wing cesspit. We should have a more liberal/progressive-minded FB Lewes based page....perhaps titled "Lewes Future".

Quite disgraceful stupid women Tory spreads misleading Starmer video
The Times15 May 2020
A government minister has been criticised for sharing a doctored video of Sir Keir Starmer on social media.
Nadine Dorries, a minister in the Department for Health and Social Care, shared a video to her 100,000 followers on Twitter that implied Sir Keir chose not to investigate child grooming when director of public prosecutions.
Her fellow Conservative MPs Maria Caulfield and Lucy Allan also retweeted the video. All have since deleted their posts, and Ms Caulfield appears to have deleted her Twitter profile.

Let's not forget the other doctored video that The Conservative Party created in January when he was Brexit Secretary. The Piers Morgan interview with the long pauses.

@Mark - very good point. They are trying every trick in the book to discredit a very credible and accomplished barrister. Which I think will come back to haunt them.

Kier Starmer will spell big trouble for Johnson and the Tories, particularly in house of commons debates, in a relatively empty chamber where questions can't be drowned out by tory heckling. Starmer will continue to dismantle and pick-apart all the lies and incompentence from the Tory government, and it will be done in a very calm, professional and litigious manner. BoJo will flounder and bluster his answers and catch himself out - this will be part of the reason why Johnson tends to duck tricky discussions/debates whenever he possibly can.

Sir Kier Starmer has impressed me a lot, from the moment he came into Labour party prominence when he joined the Corbyn shadow-cabinet and even more so since he became leader. Labour have a progressive, liberal-lefty in charge still.....but one who commands a lot broader credibility and respect across both his party, and most likely the country. He has relative youth on his side, he's bright, good communicator, is ethical and he's not some institutionalised parliamentarian. If anyone can get Labour back into government, its Starmer, and I suspect many Tories (including our local MP) are well aware of this.

Are you telling me that the grubby socialist leader of the opposition (at a time when we should be loyal to our Queen and her Government, not opposing it) did NOT say those words about his time in charge of prosecutions? Did he not utter that description of his department's work while he was its director? His so-called hopes never made it into action. And that is the truth about Labour, in the words of its own "leader". Close the whole party down. It's an illegal organisation out to wreck our traditions and order.

Oh welcome back sensible. Good to see that you have a solid grasp of the key elements of democracy, particularly of the role of HM Government's Loyal Opposition.

I don't know if you've considered moving to Russia? Putin's style of government would suit you much better: there they just kill off anyone who disagrees.

I doubt "Sensible" means a word of what they write. It seems to be some sort of parody account for attention. Like a "Jennifer" clone, but even less funny.

Once again, others have made personal attacks on me whereas the security of the facts I present, together with the accuracy of my foresight, have never been successfully challenged. Today, investigations published show that the hypocritical opposer of order leading the lying Labour party is, in plain fact, a landowner sitting on £15,000,000-worth of land, traded from traditional owners by commercial purchase, not curated by family, that might soon be required for sale for development. The rot with corrupt socialists truly starts from the top, everywhere they are allowed to emerge.

@sensible - do you speak so dramatically in real life? You sound like a bad Game of Thrones script.

But, whether you are real or not, we knew it wouldn't take long before the smear campaign moved from Jezza Corbyn and Diane Abbott to Sir Kier Starmer (who, ironically, sounds like a brave knight in Game of Thrones).

Well it has actually been challenged, Sensible. There have been 2 professionally-doctored videos of Keir Starmer that were broadcast and published widely in the media. Our media is largely owned by foreign billionaires who have their own agenda. Go online and check. Why do I bother?

hahaha: do you mean the Mail on Sunday's "exposé" of the donkey sanctuary? The field in the green belt worth around £7k in total? The one that the Mail has hallucinated into a giant housing development? (What does "curated by family" mean anyway?)

Exactly, there was all sorts of nonsense about Jeremy Corbyn being a Machiavellian, secret millionaire because the value of his Islington town house had increased. People buy into the agenda.
