No need to speed through malling, you just end up stuck in a queue at the tunnel, town centre or earwig corner. Turn up the tunes and enjoy

That's me! I am one of those pesky people in the hi-viz jackets!
Dixie Normus, we have done 6am sessions before now but it's hardcore volunteering at that time in the morning before a full day at work. So not so much a fool as knackered. But worth it. You're right - the traffic does slow down after about 7.30am. We didn't get any on Wednesday morning because the speedy toy doesn't like the grey drizzle and its harder to latch onto the cars.....However, we have 24,000 vehicles per day (including all those 30 tonne HGVs) past our homes on Malling Street and a hefty 8,000 of them are doing more than 30mph. Over 2,000 of them are going so fast they'd get a ticket if we had a speed camera. Every single day. These stats are from ESCC's own figures from April when there was a speed monitoring unit up for a week by the tyre place. Our Slow Down Malling campaign is trying - desperately - to get the police and ESCC to get people to at least stick to under 30mph before someone gets killed. Plus we're having a street party on Sunday (5pm, Pets Corner car park) so come on down and lend your support! PS: we're all drivers too so don't hate drivers - just want them to slow down!

Nell when was your cream hairdryer last calibrated independently? Those pointless letters from the rozzers are hilarious. Not worth the paper printed on. Get a new hobby old timer.

Speeding, how very rude. I won't stop until we get a speed camera. And you're all right during the next month or so as hairdryer needs to go away for its annual calibration. Love you!

Yes@ no. The speedwatchers can't find out where you live - we just jot down your number plate, car type/colour. time and speed and pass it onto Sussex Police. Only they have access to your address.
