I have recently notice LDC have gone to great trouble and expense to lay down new bouncy flooring around all the play equipment there. Does anyone know why they took the big swing away? Is it coming back? They have laid the new flooring down where it was so it looks like they might. I gather they had a bit of spare cash to burn before the end of the financial year. Could this have been better spent on other Rhings like repairing the road by the tunnel????

Bad idea that, the kids shouldn't play by the tunnel!

It's ok Mr Forks, the cars are going to slow dodging the huge holes in the road to hit the kids or cause any damage. Maybe safer for them there!

Different councils Mrs Mum. Play areas = District Council. Roads = County Council. Why don't you just email your local councillor and ask them?

Captain Malling is right Mrs Mum, the money is allocated to particular councils and ring fenced for particular services. The county is usually pretty good about repairing pot holes and though they are making massive cut backs roads are unlikely to be hit too hard.
As to whether the swing will come back, that all depends on how the cuts fall in the District council. Childrens and leisure services are likely to be hard hit. It took so long to get a really decent play area there in the first place, it would be sad if the swing was not brought back.

Jonathan, this isn't a victim of cuts. The pendulum swing at Malling is due to be replaced very soon. It was removed until the new surfacing was installed, which has now been completed. Malling Rec has undergone improvements over the past year - including new landscaping and seating. The area at Old Malling Way has also been improved after consultation with local residents.
