For the last three days there have been surveyors at work on the site, in Monks Way and Old Malling Way. Anyone know more?

I trust that the surveyors are aware of the floods of October 2000, in which the lower part of Monks Way was flooded, and a number of of local residents had to leave their homes, often for several months, whilst their houses dried out and were repaired.

That's a much better place to build 400 houses on than the Phoenix is and doesn't displace loads of local businesses and creative energy

Redeveloping Phoenix doesn't even scratch the surface of the homes needed.

Harry, the surveyors have said they are working for the farmer. That suggests they are preparing a planning application for the site since it will require some adjustments to road layout at Monks Way. And the developer will have to agree a proposal with the ESCC.
Geezer, the planning permission for the Phoenix is a done deal. The 240 at OMF are required to meet the Governments housing target for Lewes up to 2030. As 'The trouble is ...' points out we need all the houses we can get for a population that is growing at a rate of 300k per year.

It's very mysterious how we're told that the plummeting birth rate has made immigration an economic necessity and yet the population is growing by 300k per year. Thinking about it, there must be more than 300 k towns in the country which means one extra person per town per year! Hardly a crisis.
