MH370 Mystery

They are still looking, but it is a very small target in a potentially very large search area much of which is very deep ocean. Once the chance of finding survivors fell (due to time lapse since the assumed accident/forced landing event), they scaled back the search effort.
By now the batteries in the flight data recorders could well have expired, meaning there are no tracking signals (or only very weak ones) from the FDR to help people find it if they are in the correct area.
All in all its a "needle in a haystack" scenario. Even if some wreckage eventually washes up an a shoreline somewhere the chances of plotting the path of the debris based on estimated ocean currents etc will contain such a high level of uncertainty that the search teams may well still fail to find any major wreckage.
MH370 is out there somewhere, but the chances of finding it are small, and even if found, the chances of recovering any wreckage or bodies may be even smaller given the depth of the ocean floor in some areas.
That said, the search agencies did eventually find the wreckage of the Air France aircraft that crashed into the South Atlantic, so there is still some hope that traces of MH370 may yet be found, but whether they will ever find anything that definitively explains what happened is anyone's guess...

After there were stories of it flying past Mauritius I always assumed it had been stolen by some Bond-villain style organisation.
