@KC East Sussex County Council contractors have started to gut the old Bridge View Social Club and brand new Child Services are planned for that part of the Community Centre. I'm off to a committee meeting tonight to discuss the detail of the project and the Malling Community Centre Website will be updated with more detail very soon. All good news though for residents.

Matt is a little ahead of himself on this.
First it was East Sussex County Council which identified Malling Centre as a great place for Surestart and that the help to refurbishment of the whole centre would hugely benefit not only the residents of Malling but young parents from the whole town of Lewes.
Lewes Town Council have been informed of Eat Sussex County council's intentions for this refurbishment for many months, and the legal teams have been working out all the licences etc that will allow investment by ESCC into the community Centre at South Malling and the termination of the contract with YMCA in the town centre. There have been many delays, and it was the view of all the parties involved in this project to put on hold any publicity until the final documents were signed. The go ahead was agreed at the end of last week and final signing off is this week..
In order to bring Matt and other residents up to speed I can confirm that the project is for the refurbishment of the Bridge View Social Club, so Malling Community Centre and the pre-school will continue to operate under the Malling Community Association. The Surestart will be in another section of the building. To those that have not come across Surestart, it is a ESCC scheme which helps parents, carers and young children to give all children a good start in life.
Although I can be highly critical of ESCC in this case it is a cause for celebration.

@Mr Forks. Of course I was and I did my fair share of screaming (parking was easy back then though) Doesn't mean I'm going to enjoy the towns brats making a beeline to close to where I live now I'm the old codger.
