Ah well I guess that's the risk of having a drone. Let's hope it hasn't dropped on anyone's head.

I would imagine it's at least £300 of gear. (Stop sniggering at the back there!)

I wonder why appeals for sightings of lost dogs don't invite such unsympathetic responses. Dogs are far more of a nuisance compared to a quadcopter.

So Paul, were you flying fpv? You know it is illegal to fly without an observer and out of view? Also ten days is a long time to wait, were you flying with permission of the landowners concerned?

I hope you find it though, that's a lot of money to get blown away in the wind

You might get a better response if you included some mere hint of appreciation for people's help. Do you have Asperger's or something similar?

How about a tracking device fitted to the quadcopter that relays the coordinates to your mobile phone so that you know where to find it. Makes sense to me.

If you were flying it from the land accesssed via Lower Stoneham Farm presumably it'll be most likely be somewhere on Mark Stroud's land (but hopefully not in the river). If I was you I'd leave a post in the Barcombe Mills Road Flood Status Facebook group as this serves as Barcombe's community Facebook page and some of those who frequent it walk their dogs on Mark's land.
Good luck.

Years ago I was flying a r/c glider on Itford Hill and lost control when it was very high. I saw it disappear and wasn't hopeful but having my name and address on it worked. When the harvest was over I got a call from a farmer who managed to not destroy it with his combine harvester. It flew about 4 miles apparently. It might be worth contacting local farmers and being a bit apologetic might help.

I probably should have said but Mark Stroud lives at Culver Farm along Hamsey Road. He's a very nice man and will keep an eye out if asked.

Found it last week near Hamsey. Sold it for £20 at the boot sale behind Waitrose. Bloke who bought it looked pleased.

Presumably then, Pete, you would not object to someone "finding" your property and then selling it at a fraction of its' value.

Thanks for the helpful responses... not so for the stupid ones.
The quad was worth around £800. I was flying it over open countryside with no houses or people near by.. as the law suggests. The quad has several safety features.. a come home button, a 400 metre limit fence and should land itself as soon as the controller was turned off. None of these kicked in. I was not flying it out of sight, I always fly it responsibly. However it did drift out of sight, maintaining height. I could have flown a mile or so open empty fields but equally it could have got caught up in trees or bushes.
