When buying a house of that age always best to get a full survey and take particular care to get roof timbers checked

Lansdown Place is no better than Friars Walk imo, they're basically the same road. Any through traffic using Friars Walk goes along Lansdown Place as well.
People use it to get to the station from the eastern side of town and it's an alternative route to the tunnel if you're going out of town to the south or west. And when the high street and East Street are gridlocked, a lot of people use it to get to the A275.
