I went out for my first bike ride of the year this week; thoroughly depressing to cycle along grass verges simply strewn with litter both on the A27 between the 2 Lewes roundabouts & also down the road to Newhaven from Beddingham.
Almost all the litter was plastic - bottles, wrapping, bags & packaging; it was particularly bad near any layby, so I guess most of it is simply chucked out of vehicle windows.
Shameful - TAKE IT HOME.

From what I have seen, the trouble is not people chucking rubbish out of vehicles, it's open-top lorries, overfull, presumably on their way to the incinerator at Newhaven. This only became a problem when the incinerator opened, and I think Veolia should be required to organise and pay for regular litter clean-up patrols on all the A-roads used to access the incinerator.
