Anyone got an idea as to how long it would take to drive from Lewes to Woodingdean midday on a Sunday. I think the traffic via Castle Hill/Downs from Falmer can be bad?

There was quite a queue to get through Woodingdean crossroads (back to beyond the top of the hill on Falmer Road) last Sunday about that time even though the weather was nothing special. Mothering Sunday may have contributed to some of the journeys.
About 15-20 mins I'd reckon.

This road is bad most times now, as drivers are using it to get to eastern Brighton due to the farce of making Lewes Road one lane only for cars and trucks. I would allow another 15 mins.

Midday on a Sunday will be about 20 minutes unless there's football on at the Amex which can add a bit of time. Due to the excellent approach to increasing road safety and reducing pollution and congestion by making Lewes Road one lane only for cars and trucks so the regular buses no longer cause jams, and changing the cycling of the traffic lights to generate better traffic flow too, you don't generally find this a preferred route for anyone going into Brighton unless they are heading towards the Marina, in which case they would have always gone this way anyway to avoid the seafront snarl-ups.

By coincidence the only reason I was on the Forum at 9.05 is because I had a job this morning in Whitehawk. I deliberately booked it in for 10.00 to avoid wasting time in a queue at Woodingdean.
On the return journey in early afternoon there was a massive queue in the opposite direction down to the Downs Hotel due to road works just below it. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
