Hello,
I'm a lewes resident leaving the area unfortunately for a year or two. I'm renting my house but need a short term let between my tenant moving in and my flights booked out of the country. Looking for a six week place to rent for me and my small family from late October to early December. Can anyone give me advice on where such short term lets may be advertised? Been searching the net with no luck.
Many thanks

Short term is generally a minimum 6 months contract. The best bet would be to try hiring an RV.

Thanks for the advice but won't work with two small kids for that length of time.

You could try one of the holiday cottages that are around. Google it should give you a few places.

There are, but they may not be advertised. Many of them are occupied during the summer by Glyndebourne singers and contractors, and by the end of October they'll be coming free as the tour sets off. (I'd probably see if I could talk to someone in the Glyndebourne accommodation office, in fact!)

Try advertising here perhaps, and also try to get a bit of word of mouth going. Make sure that potential landlords know what you're looking for (furnished/unfurnished/number of bedrooms/pets) and also reassure them that you'll make it easy for them (damage deposits/pay in full in advance), because otherwise they'll think it's not worth their while.

Hi Jane,
I have a place to let for short term lets. In Lewes. It is unoccupied during the dates you mention. If you'd like to discuss, please post an email address where I can contact you.

Try Best Of Brighton holiday lets, in rotting dean. They have properties all over, for a week to couple of months.

Rottingdean, not rotting dean. Slightly pedantic and off topic, but the people of the village would probably prefer not to be associated with a dead headmaster.
