Last year there was difficulty with morning off peak trains from Lewes which were reduced from 8 to 4 coaches. After many moans Southern indicated they would make changes May 2020. I am not sure how rolling stock will be allocated but certainly some improvement planned. Website says no more attaching and detaching at Haywards Heath. Half hourly service Lewes and Worthing routes. Hope these trains are at least 8 coaches

The removal of attach/separate at Haywards Heath is being dressed up as a need to keep trains moving more freely as a major rebuilding of gatwick station is undertaken. There is a waffly and unclear report in this weeks Sussex Express (along with a picture of Astley House that it claims is Ringmer swimming pool). Perhaps someone in the know (not a SE reporte) could clarify what is happening. It seems to be saying that reduced line capacity through Gatwick will impact on services further south. One south bound train at Gatwick becomes two at HH, two northbound at HH become one at Gatwick. I don't see the logic.

Response to Wallands Dave : I don't think the Haywards Heath changes are anything to do with the Gatwick works. As shown in the previous content of this post Southern received many complaints from travellers after they reduced the morning off peak trains from 8 to 4 coaches. Brighton people are upset because their Victoria trains off peak are reduced from 4 to 2 trains each hour and the only trains running are Gatwick Express at a premium fare. I suspect the 377 type trains withdrawn from the Brighton Line are being used to make the Lewes and Worthing routes 8 coaches. The Gatwick project is said to be 2 years so what happens after that ? - back to 4 coaches ?
