I have noticed many times that there at twilight/early night there always seems to be an orangey-hello glow to the south west of lewes. particularly notice it when walking westwards at night.
Why is that? Is it the glow of Brighton in the distance...?

Yes, it seems to be getting more visible. It eminates from the natural underground radon harnessed as part of the pitch heating system at the Amex Stadium. It was glowing particularly pinky orange at 05:30 this morning.

I live in Old Malling Way and never noticed it until last night when looking at the full moon. Thank you for the explanation as I was puzzled by this seemingly new manifestation.

I've noticed it for the past three nights. It's not like the orange glow of Brighton but that may be that they've changed to the horrible l.e.d. system. It seems to be coming from a smaller area than Brighton covers . I wondered if it was a reflection of the lights along the A27 from the low clouds. I saw it from Beddingham this evening. It could be from the AMEX floodlights, though it doesn't look that far to the west. As for radon, perhaps someone's having a laugh.

It's the orange lights at the Amex stadium. I don't know if they are new or not - I've only seen them recently - but they are making low cloud look as though they are glowing a strange amber colour.

It's the lights on the pitch at the Amex to help the grass grow...
