Hello people
Controversy aside, does anyone know if the post office is now up and running in WH Smith? And, if so, what time it is open til?
Many thanks,
Kelly

Been open for two weeks at least. Normal opening hours and is open on Saturdays until about 4.00 I think.

So far, I would say it's better, quicker, brighter, and friendlier. I know some people think the queues might be a challenge near Christmas in what could also be a busy shop, but at least the queue will be in the warm and dry for a change. I was very pleasantly surprised by how much space has been given over to it by WHS.

As with most consultations they ignored the majority. I'm using more convenient alternatives now.

New post office on the flat near parking in the centre of town. Some people just can't cope with any sort of change.

You can only give it a chance. Lewes P.O. was ran into the ground & it didn't help itself being found at the wrong end of town. Lets face it though, nationwide, WH Smith conversions have been a disaster. Brighton lost 2 major Post Offices (Central & London Road)repaced with Churchill Square WH Smiths, an inadequate replacement; as is Uckfields. More government money keeping hedge funders afloat.... just like Boots!

But what will happen when WH Smiths collapses? It's been dying for years, a bit like Woolworths.

Then the PO will take over the whole shop.

My recent experience with PO's in shops has been dire. The staff just don't seem know what they are doing with anything out of the ordinary. I was trying to get a vehicle changed from Private-Light-Goods to Historic. They had no idea of what to do and in the end, have lost all my paperwork. This has meant applying for a fresh Registration document and starting all over again. This change can only be done at a post office (not sub) but such a thing with knowledgeable staff does not appear to exist in East Sussex any more.
