I got an email the other day from the Liberal Democrats saying that apparently the whole Lewes lib-dem committee has been suspended from their national party. I haven't heard anything more from the local party so i assume they're keeping a low profile. Hubby is Labour so of course he thinks it's hilarious. Any political types on here know what's going on?

Ms Blunder was about to be put before the court for non-payment of council tax on her Seaford home. She then whinged that LDC and Lewes Libs had conspired to breach Data Protection. Lewes Libs would be pleased to see the back of this MP wannabe who increased the Tory majorities first in Guildford then in Lewes. Enter a Blunderfan from Lib-Dum HQ who wants to protect her?

Thanks pen pusher. Sounds like maybe kelly-marie expected the local party to pay the council tax as part of her expenses? And somebody forgot? Where does the data protection bit come in?

I'm told that there is a variety of internal issues to sort out, which an interim team is doing. Kelly-Marie remains the LibDem Parliamentary candidate and is continuing to try to hold Maria Caulfield to account. And we have councillors at different levels still working on behalf of their constituents.

Surely it can't be a coincidence that the local LibDem party falls apart once Paul Newman got heavily involved? That man could start a fight in an empty room.

It is true that most things I touch turn into disasters but I have no idea about what is going on. I got the email and that is it ?

Assuming the Council Tax story is accurate- what on earth are the Lib Dems doing with KM still on the books as their PPC.?
Rather than thrashing around attacking the local party about who said what to whom how about ditching the clearly unelectable two time loser PPC?
What little I see suggests the local level LDs do a great job fighting Tory cuts and incompetence. Why in Tom Paines name put a spike in their success to support an (apparently) tax dodging failure?
How will that behaviour play in the next election?

In free votes, the greatest measure of the will of a nation, the British people voted to leave the European Union immediately, and voted to return a Conservative Party government, exactly as it has done in a majority of elections, thereby affirming the place of the Conservative Party as the only legitimate party of government. If a person now either obstructs leaving the EU, or frustrates the direct rule of the properly elected government, he is promoting sickness and anti British principles and must be controlled accordingly until the present constitutional crisis is over.

It doesnt matter what she has done. She would be better than that useless article that we have as an mp at present.

It's simple....She cannot stand as an MP, if she hadn't paid her Council Tax!! As for being given a Court Summons??? Why she is still the PPC beggars belief.

Still no one has begun to explain properly WHY the Lewes Lib Dem Committee has been suspended from the National Party - according to the initial post on this thread. IF this is true then it is a serious matter. If it's true that the National Party has also contacted individual local members with this information it is indeed troubling. The local party needs to talk to its members and the public to maintain credibility. Destructive rumour takes over all too quickly. The Liberal democrats have local donors and supporters. I sincerely hope that this is all malign gossip. However the silence is deafening at present. 'Data protection:' I don't understand that angle at all.

I detect a bit of off loading of potential blame here. The candidate was selected by both the National Party and the Lewes Lib Dem committee - now apparently suspended. There is corporate responsibility involved. We're talking about a nationally and locally selected and accepted prospective MP. In short she was chosen. As yet there's been no proved misconduct made public. I'm afraid this issue will have to go public in order for it to be resolved.

Surprised there is not more outrage from council tax payers -surely no one is suitable for election if they need a court summons to be made to pay their council tax?

When K-M stood in Guildford in 201, the Lib-Dem vote collapsed from 21,836 to 8,834. K-M turns Tory marginals into safe seats.
