Have Borough Bonfire Society officially dropped the word "Borough" from their name? The twitter account and Facebook account run by their "PR officer" Mick Symes are both in the name of just Lewes Bonfire.

It's cute that they are trying to pass themselves off as the official voice of Bonfire in Lewes but when Mick is the only person in Bonfire advocating more tourists rather than fewer and is actively advertising Big Lemon coach tours to Bonfire Night it's putting out something of a mixed message...

The account also says it hasn't rained for the Hastings out meeting for a few years, but those of us who were there know last year it rained heavy enough that the torches wouldn't light.

Get your facts right Gonville, their Facebook page is Ye Olde Lewes Borough Bonfire Society. Any other FB page is not owned by them.

Their website is lewesbonfire.com though and Mick has appeared on BBC news captioned as "Lewes Bonfire" before.

Infamy, Infamy, Has someone got it infamy, good evening folks you know who I am and you know how to get hold of me, If you have any valid points to raise feel free, meanwhile if you want to find out who may or maynot have been behind the abandoned £250 photo tours to lewes bonfire do not look at me or the society of which I am proudly a member I would also add that I do not discuss things on this forum or with people who do not have the ability to use their own name.

What a classic response to say you do not discuss things on this forum , you appear to have written rather a long post for someone who doesn't discuss things on here.

I might be missing the point on account of not being a bonfire person but surely Lewes Borough Bonfire Society IS Lewes Bonfire society. It was originally the Lewes Bonfire society which covered the borough of Lewes. Cliffe was a separate borough and had their own Bonfire society.

If they want to be known as Lewes bonfire maybe they should put they’re name forward to be the event organiser, this should cheer the police up!
On the subject of twitter, I’m surprised The borough’s committee haven’t asked him to stop tweeting about his train rides and Other nothing to do with bonfire topics in they’re name.

Borough is the only real Lewes Bonfire Society. The others are just pretenders and Cliffe are not in Lewes anyway. And that's fact

Why do borough maintain they are the oldest lewes society?? They changed there name from the town to the lewes borough that makes them a different society surely? If that's not the case then Waterloo are older than they say they are. they used to March as Waterloo place bonfire society in the 50s. but dropped the place and became just Waterloo. Surely that applies to the borough?? So that make csbs the oldest lewes society. ??
