I do think that shy is the wrong word though. Ashamed would be better.
So disappointed in lewes. And astonished. In all my wanders around town I don't think I saw one Tory poster.

Kettle - remember that the Lewes constituency also includes Seaford, Newhaven, Ringmer and plenty of villages and farms. I saw plenty of Tory posters when I was driving around local lanes. As far as Woodruff's goes, I suspect that his sales will rocket after all this publicity.

Matt - you did an amazing job on our garden at St John's Hill, you're a brilliant bloke, and run a wonderful shop in Lewes. Good on you for commenting in the way that you have. I didn't vote Tory, but I'll be sure to come past soon and grab some plants for our garden, and I'll gladly pay an extra 10% regardless - simply because you're a legend!

Mavis - if you look at the council election results you will see that there was virtually zero conservative vote in Lewes town, and a fairly significant Labour vote. The problem is the rest of the constituency.

Why do so many people have problems understanding this? Yes, Lewes Town does not vote Tory.
BUT LEWES TOWN ONLY CONTAINS 10-15% OF THE CONSTITENCY'S ELECTORATE. THE ENTIRE TOWN COULD VOTE SOCIALIST WORKER PARTY TOMORROW AND IT WOULDN'T MAKE THAT MUCH DIFFERENCE.

I'd be happy to pay a 10% surcharge if you lefties are happy to tick a box on your annual tax bill, stating you will pay whatever extra tax is required to fund all your socialist policies that you want everyone else to pay for, foreign aid, green taxes, benefits etc etc etc. You pay those and we'll pay the 10%, it will lower my tax bill by tens of thousands a year. No? didn't think so, I believe that makes you hypocrites, shocker who knew liberals were hypocrites.

It's Cameron who ringfenced the foreign aid budget.
And on benefits, the biggest single source of expenditure is old age pensions. They're paid for out of the tax paid by current workers. Why should I pay for the upkeep of retirees?

Well done Matt, you sell good quality beautiful plants and your sign is superb. Interesting that the foul language on here is from Tory Supporters. Not sure why they are so irate they got exactly what they wanted, yet more poverty, fewer full time jobs, more zero hours contracts, mauled animals, waiting list for NHS treatment extended, teaching assistants loosing jobs. This is only the beginning. Anyway, well, done Matt, an unexpected National Hero.

This is not the first time Matt has nailed his colours to the mast outside his premises. He had a bit of a spat with Waitrose last year. I don't recall that incident producing a backlash.
I have purchased my perennials from Woodruff's for a few years and will continue to do so. Good quality plants at reasonable prices and good quality advice free of charge.
