Why not? Good business possibility. Housing is shrinking. Rented accommodation can be expensive and lacking in utilities in Lewes. But what would be a fair price for the services?

Launderettes are becoming a rare thing, presumably because there's no call for them. The ones that remain in this area (Seaford and Peacehaven) are very expensive, around £10 per load to wash and dry.
It would have to be accessible, so central, and it would have to have its own parking or be near on-street parking that isn't always packed. In Lewes, those two things tend to be mutually exclusive.
What might be a good proposition would be a laundry and ironing service for the commuters who spend half their time at the mercy of Southern and Govia. They could drop off and collect, so no need for parking, or could pay extra for collection/delivery. Great for the cash-rich, time-poor.
There's a place in Seaford that does an ironing service and it always seems busy, people coming and going with clothes and several staff ironing away inside. It's called The Iron Lady if you want to check them out.

I've needed one from time to time, but not on a regular basis. I suspect if the demant was there, we'd have one already.
Nearest one I've found is on the sussex uni campus in falmer.

There used to be one at the top of de Montfort road but became housing about 10 years ago but it turned into housing. Not particularly well used at the end.

The closet launderette to Lewes is in Iford. About 3 miles from Lewes which is obviously more convenient than travelling to peacehaven or seaford.

I didn't know there was a launderette in Iford - I wonder why as its a little off the beaten track ? I've been waiting for my machine to be repaired and would have made use of a launderette . Years ago I lived in a flat in Western Rd - I used to do all my washing in one go and then take it to the launderette in De Montfort Rd and dry it in the tumble dryers . For those of us short on space its another option but I suppose a combination washer / dryer could be too ? I thought a launderette combined with a cafe might be a nice idea ?

@bert, once again you miss the point being made by that poster by a country mile....but I think we have become used to the way your peabrain operates. Unless your insanely anti drugs, which encompasses caffeine.
