I'm sad to say but UK summers do not materialise as in the past. Two consecutive sunny days are rare, as the common feature these days is dull, grey, gloomy cloud, intermingled with frequent rain showers and an annoying, rather zealous breeze that tends to outmuscle any warmth. I am envious when a lot of Europe on the other side of the channel basks in sunshine while the Atlantic and the Gulf stream constantly dump the awful weather and cloud on us. I wish you good weather for the village party, but by late Sept I feel any summer will already be long gone, with the air turning chilly, especially from late afternoon onward.

Can someone from bbs please explain how the hell you came to a decision not to invite Waterloo to your evening ?? Only a few years ago when barcombe was on its knees and close to folding it was the cliffe and Waterloo that saved you from that fate. Members of both society's gave there time and money to help you. My favourite out meeting has always been barcombe but I will not be joining the cliffe there this year as I'm disgusted with how they have treated a kindred society that done so much for them. The officers and committee should be ashamed of themselves.

I've been a member of barcombe for many many years. if what I'm reading here is true then I'm completely dumbfounded by our committee decision not to invite a society that gave so much to us when we needed it. I think an emergency meeting needs to be held asap to resolve this matter.

As mentioned, please contact your secretary our our secretary for clarification. A public forum isn't the place to have this out, especially when not in possession of the full picture.

In response to the comments, it is true we received much help from Waterloo in previous years for which we are eternally grateful. However there were a few issues that arose during our troubles last year, which the committee didn't feel were well dealt with by the Waterloo committee of the time. This resulted in our committee deciding not to extend an invite this year, as was the case for Waterloo not inviting Barcombe to the 5th last year, or this year for that matter.
As we understand it has now all changed at the top of Waterloo, with some familiar Barcombe faces in post, so we hope to have you back next year. Unfortunately budgets and allocations are already set for this year, without another meeting until September.
We are over 100% down on preparation space than in previous years, with resources as tight as ever, so have had to prioritise with a view to getting off the ground again. Invites have been extended to local societies who have supported us throughout our hiatus in 2016 and also to some new formations to pay the favour forwards. During this period we did not hear from Waterloo and got the feeling not to expect to.

I hate the politics as much as the next man but unfortunately a decision has been made with plans already in place. Sorry to disappoint but hopefully we'll welcome you back in 2018 when things are more solid our end.

Bbs I've never read so much trash. Firstly don't be writing on a public forum that your not happy about another society committee. Take it up with them. Secondly barcombe haven't walked with Waterloo for 5 years or more. It's quite clear that you don't have all the facts. And what does a change at the top matter. ?? The previous chairman probably done more for barcombe than you or half your committee.

Well said smuggler. I think the last time we walked with Waterloo was 2010/11 as these are the last programmes I have of there Night. Get your facts right mr secretary. It's embarrassing.

Yes, apologies debating it on here is misjudged! It is being dealt with between the committees as explained. It appears there has been some misunderstandings and miscommunication between ingoing/outgoing committees and WBS, which we hope to resolve very swiftly.
