Landport Boys Club / Youth Centre

Hi All
We need your help. There has been a youth centre on Landport for over 50 years, formally known as 'The Boys Club'. But over the past 5 years it has gone through some very poor 'management' changes, which had left the club in finacial ruin.
This has now all been put in the past, and a clean slate has been given. A new steering commitee has been formed, and everyone involved would like to see a new 'LEWES Youth Centre'. However, there is a lot of work that needs to be done to get the club in to a useable state.
This coming weekend (14th & 15th July) we will be clearing everything out of the club, and need as many people as possible to help out. We will be in the club from 10am until 4pm, and have a very large skip that will need filling. So if your at a loose end this weekend please come along and help out. Bring some marigolds, cleaning materials, wheelbarrows or whatever you think will help (no jokes about explosives please).
See you there!!!
Pete

Hi Smiler
We had a huge turn out of about 20 people, which is way more than we ever excepted.
We did get most of the clearing done, and managed to overfill a large skip with rubbish.
The next steps require a plumber, chippy, plasterer, builder, electrician etc. to carry out repair work to certain parts of the building. Do you know of anyone who would be willing to donate a few hours of hard graft to help out?
We will be having another blitz weekend on the 18th & 19th of August to paint and decorate throughout. So feel free to come along then, and bring a paint brush :-)
By then we should have had all the windows repaired (if enough money comes in).
Thanks for your support
Pete

I like the fact it's safe enough to leave windows open and shops don't need to put grills up at night.
