Hello. My Fiancé an I are marrying at Lewes castle on 1st August 2014 and are looking to hire a piece of land, ideally locally or not too far from Lewes for the Saturday and Sunday to house our wedding celebrations (2nd and 3rd).
We would like to be able to camp on site and are happy to bring in facilities for toilets and such. We would also like to be able to have amplified music played but we are of course accepting of time limitations of this.
We are planning to have a couple of small marquees and some table and chairs and BBQs, almost like a small private festival for our wedding guests.
Any help or pointers in the right direction would be gratefully received,
Many thanks.

Not the Paddock - I know for a fact that has already been hired. But talk to Spring Barn Farm. They have a camping field, and a mate of mine had a marquee there for his wedding.

You could see if CBS will rent you the rock in the bog site which is used for their annual rock in the bog festival. They normally have camping on site as part of their music festival and may be able to provide you with bar facilities etc.

The Secret Camp Site in Barcombe will not allow music, let alone amplified music! I don't think they even tolerate groups larger than 6.

Trying to hire a field in August, just during harvest time and the animals are out grazing! I think you will have problems. Farmers are not too happy with people who have let their children or dogs run through the crops, and let off fireworks near the cattle and sheep.
Go to an existing site but make sure they have planning permission for social events or you might find your plans cancelled if there is a challenge.
