Are the flood defences in Cliffe finished now?
Has anyone contacted their insurance company to find out how much their premiums will go down as a result of the defenses.
I have just spoken to Pearl and they told me it won't make any difference to my premiums
It seems to me that if they put the premiums up because of the risk of flodd then they should put them down if the risk is reduced.
or am i just being a bit naive?

Unfortunately, many insurance companies just work out the premium from the postcode or an entire street, however hilly it is, and do not take into account improved flood defences.
It may be worth you contacting the Association of British Insurers (abi.org.uk) to see whether they can point you in the direction of an insurer who looks at the flood risk for each property on its individual merits and any flood protection that's been installed.

There's a useful information sheet on the ABI website which explains how flood risk is assessed, which would be useful knowledge when dealing with insurance companies.

We went with a different company this year and it was about £200 cheaper. The flood risk is now 100:1 not 50, and the company were happy with an email I supplied from the Environment Agency.
