Info for LB train commuters

Hi, just looking at proposed re timetabling for London Bridge commuters from Lewes. (See the consultation document link on the Southern webiste). Can anyone understand whether this is good or bad news for users of the south coast mainline ?? There doesn't seem to be any more trains for Lewes and given that every LB train is invariably delayed or cancelled these days, is there any point on commenting on the consultation document ?

Only info I can see is about Christmas "blockade"
Is there something more long term?

Not sure about that, but speaking as an ex-Thameslink commuter, if they are taking over Southern I'd start to worry. They are truly goddamned awful.

On the whole the suggestions (which can only be temporary given the three years of work at LB starting in January) look sensible. The Thameslink service will be more reliable as they have created longer turnaround times (that's not saying much) and the Lewes trains from Victoria will be quicker by a whole 5mins or so. The Brighton Express trains are being changed a bit so we will have to wait and see. After 2018 services into LB and through to Cambridge etc will be easier as there will be less congestion outside LB - to be fair they are spending 6.5bn on the Thameslink service. BTW Thameslink (operated by Govia from 2015) are not taking over Southern, its the other way round. First Capital Connect were rubbish.

Interesting Traveller. How are Victoria trains getting faster?
And yes, First Crapital Connect. I remember them well.

Does that 6.5bn include re-opening the Lewes-Uckfield link to increase the capacity from the South coast to London ? Of course not - that would be far too sensible.
