It wasn’t over moderation it was registration that made people feel vulnerable about posting.
It was councillor ‘Catlin’ tabling an unnecessary council motion that helped to lead to its temporary slowdown.
It will just take a while for people to realise that the Lewes forum has no agenda and no political leanings unlike some of the Lewes Facebook groups.
In my view it’s not the role of a moderator to influence what’s discussed or to deny a reasonable voice of any persuasion.

To be fair to this Smith fellow (Who seems like an entirely reasonable and well adjusted young chap), participation here went through the floor after compulsary registration was introduced and I don't think he meant that post as a dig at you personally.

As far as I know this forum software/setup has not changed in the many many years since I came across it (apart from a very awkward login to post now). It's a pretty poor forum setup (sorry webbo). see moneysavingexpert, digitalspy or mumsnet for how a forum should be. Much easier to use/navigate and no endless repetitive threads on the same subject.

@PS
Could you give me a bit more to go on about the awkwardness of logging in so i can see if there's anyting I can do to make it easier.
What is it about it that you find awkward?

I suspect people have been inadvertly banned, and are not aware of it. I never log out now for fear of not getting back in again. There definitely must be a problem, for so many not to be posting. Lewes Present is packed with argumentative types actually using their real names !!

I found registering fairly easy and logging in is a doodle. It remembers me so there's no difference. I wouldn't go near the fb forums. I'd be worried about the exposure. I would have been tracked down and beaten up years ago.

It looks like the thread started on lewes present in response to this has been removed. Keep it up webbo. The only true uncensored voice piece for Lewes. I've seen too much censorship on the LP Facebook site to use it again. This site shall rise again.

I didn’t see the thread on LP so I have no idea what I was about or why it was remove.
