Hello - I don't like to slag off a local business but I'm really annoyed about this one - just as bad as Sussex County Computers. My dad couldn't get a picture on his screen and took the computer to Iconic, and they said the all the data had been encrypted and was unreadable and they'd never seen anything like it. They reinstalled Windows, losing all his photos etc. Dad got the computer back, said problem, bought a new screen - everything OK. Avoid this place!

I am very sorry to hear that your Dad appears to have lost all his pictures. But they may be recoverable, even though Windows has been reinstalled.
You can find software quite easily on the internet that will scan your hard drive for deleted pictures, and recover them. One programme I have used in the past is called Recuva. It is available at no cost from the manufacturer's website, Pirifom (just Google it).
I managed to get hundreds of pictures back from my Mum's memory card after she had acidentally deleted them through the camera. If you do try to recover them, it is best to do it as soon as possible - the more you use the computer without trying to recover the pictures, the more likely it is that they will be overwritten. If you do use Recuva, make sure you tick the box to enable a 'deep scan'. It will take a while - possibly hours - but it is worth giving it a go.
Good luck!

Or you could try backing up your important files in the first place so that you don't have to come on here slagging off local traders for not getting you out of the hole you dug for yourself.

Maybe your dad thought it better not to have the photos on his computer anymore!

You could always try the Lewes Computer Guy. I've used him before, many times. I think his ad is in Viva Lewes. Or google him.
