I simply don't believe it!

A few weeks back I posted a note about the shop called Wickle on School Hill.
I'm now feeling rather paranoid that the owner is having a laugh at the previous posts regarding his/her shop as, for the last couple of weeks, balls of twine have been on display in the window with a price tag of £25!
Mind you, it has made me giggle every time I pass.

Yes I think they must've seen those posts and have decided to have a laugh at the comments.

It would be worth a chuckle....if the comments posted about "another new Lewes shop selling a ball of string for £35" weren't so spot on

Balls of string now removed from window - Hoorah!
But has Lewes been saved?
I do not want Lewes to be known as the string capital of the UK - it's a bit ropey! How can we stop these "hobby traders" destroying our town?

If ever there was an argument against local traders and for large chain stores - Wickle is it.

Does anyone know why their ball of string is so expensive?

Its probably so expensive because the owners of Wickle realise that there are so many londoners living in Lewes who are stupid enough to pay the prices.

The £25 string has been removed from the window and has now been replaced by cotton doorstops (filled with dried beans) - a real bargain at £20. A small cushion is also available for £55.
It's becoming very painful (with laughter) to walk past this joke shop!
Lewesianne - somehow I doubt it!

If you lend someone £20 and don't see them again it was probably worth it.
