Well I've been living back in Lewes for 3 years and before that, lived round the corner from the shop for 2 years and can remember them putting the sign up in the windows that said "Closing Down" about 6 months after I had moved nearby. So 3 + 1.5 = 4.5 yrs to me. What the bloke said in the shop may well be a completely different thing...

Maybe, instead of criticising our independent stores we'll appreciate them more once they've gone, and there's nowhere else around.
