If you count the the two hotels (as they both have public bars) that's 20.

Wow, 20 drinking based establishments in a relatively small town! What a bunch of lushes we are! Plus all the restaurants with alcohol licenses and shops that sell booze. I've probably been in about 1/3rd of them so far.

Which is the best pub? The Lewes Arms seems to have a good atmosphere, and I like the Swan Inn. Quite a few places that attract more chavs than others though.
The Cock Inn and the Juggs are great too, but just on the outskirts so technically Ringmer and Kingston.

Only 20. About a century ago there used to be 70. The town was smaller too.

I don't even know what DFL means, perhaps you could elaborate Ffs. Even google isn't clearing up this mystery. Are you angry because I used the word "chav"?

You forgot the Pelham House. I have taken visitors for cocktails there before, where they're very good though questions were raised by one guest about the service. Pretty art too.

You need to remember people lived and drank in the same street then 1900's so there were much more pubs then as there were more breweries one in Fisher street and one in Southover. Now gone. Opposite the landsdown was a pub and part way down Landsdown Place was another. opposite the church.
