I'm still having difficulty finding buildings insurance on my house that was flooded in 2000.
Does anyone know of any insurance companies that are doing it and whether the (promised) flood defences will make any difference to the availability of insurance?

I get my insurance through Cronin Whippy insurance brokers in Eastbourne 01323 410433 . I had trouble finding insurance when i purchased my property 5 years ago but have always used them and they've been pretty good and reasonable

what could be making it worse is that "they" seem to have redefined the flood plain - by taking the limit of floods in 2000 to represent the limit of the flood plain now - this is nonsense the flood plain is cleary eveident both geographiocally and geologically - the fact that the floods extended further due to mismanagement of sluice gates SHOULD bear no relevance to insurance problems associated with living ON the actual flood plain - many properties that were flooded ARE NOT on the flood plain

Liverpool Victoria and Nationwide have both been insuring flooded properties in Lewes.

I thought that this was an unfounded rumour, no factual basis at all. Do you know of any evidence to the contrary?

I've had a problem with localised flooding, but it has been considered an "act of God"

If you lend someone £20 and don't see them again it was probably worth it.
