Hixon Green restaurant/wine bar/cafe coming to Lewes. One in Church Road, Hove. Presume it’s going into Presso to give Côte a run for its money. Am I right? Anyone know. They are advertising for staff.

You are joking yes?. What you mean is there will be another stop off, on route, for the frozen food distributors and extra work for the microwave technicians.

I assume it will be where Prezzo was as that's now under offer and none of the other vacant places seem to be (although I'm not sure what the plan is for La Magazine). Seems similar to Fuego but I'm not sure if they'll be as successful when they're at the top end of the town.

One wonders how many trendy eateries/coffee shops etc our little town can support. My budget doesn't stretch far and for me, eating out is a homemade butty in the front seat of the truck.

Hmm, agree with 'little town' Eridge Green. Just what damage will be inflicted after all these 'eateries' continue to hike rents, perhaps ultimately fail like Prezzo, and leave? Greed, not the food kind, could finish off our little town centre. It's more or less totally cloned already. And 'cloned' includes the food on offer as well! Not eating in a chain is well nigh impossible in Lewes nowadays. Sad times indeed. Their very presence reflects the changing demographic of a once proud loyal community.

@musing, using School Hill as an example, the properties vacated by failing businesses will be turned into very nice townhouses and apartments. The owners of these properties have fleeced all they can out of the rental market, and now is the perfect time to sail off into the sunset with a few million from converting them to residential. The more residents in high end properties, the more demand for coffee, balls of string and pots of paint shops. Lewes is a microcosm of France, it would be a lovely place without all the people that live here.

What sort of knob leaves reviews on trip advisor? Why not keep your opinion of bars etc to yourself, like normal people do?
