Hi everyone,
Yet another soggy flood-related question!!! ... I know Orchard Road flooded quite badly in 2000. Did Hereward Way (the next one up) escape???
Thanks!!!

I lived in Spences Lane at the time. I remember there being a man hole cover where Hereward Way meets Spences Lane. As you come down the Hill I think its on the left in the road. The water came up to this cover. Out side Gibson court in Spences lane there is a brick dustbin enclosure. The water was over the top of the brick work.
I know this because when I was rescued by the life boat crew from the top floor of Gibson Court they went over the top and punctured the dingy.

Thanks so much for yr reply .. it's hard to imagine how terrible it must have been, having only moved here in the last few years.
Do I gather then, that the houses on the upper side of Hereward Way wouldn't have been flooded?

Earlgreylady, Hereward Way did not flood in 2000, so if you are looking to buy the house at the bottom end of Hereward Way you will be fine.
