Happiness is a fleeting and fragile thing. A few days ago I was happy and content with life. Today I feel like I'm falling apart. A loved one has cancer and my heart is broken.

I sympathise Sad. Last week I went to the funeral of a friend who died of cancer in her mid-40s. What makes it slightly easier to bear is the courage of her partner and family.

Cancer need not be a killer. It can be a battle and a tough one. A very good friend of mine has battled through in the last year and is now fitter and in better health than ever before. Breakthroughs are being made all the time and what your loved one needs is support and lots of positive thinking. If your loved one is going to be treated in Brighton they wiill be in the best hands - excellent team and excellent care. Be positve and good luck!

Sorry to hear of your news Sad. Life is one big climb up a mountain and just when you think you've reached the top, there's some big bugger at the top ready to knock you back down.
Good luck with your friends fight.

I agree with Old Cynic and feel that if you are to support your friend through this, you need to be positive.

Made a comment on the Doc thread, true story too. However, do not wish to make light of Sad's sadness, hope he/she finds the means to cope with life's hurdles. Best to all my dear Lewes friends, Peter and Boon-Nam

@Sad - sorry to hear of your news. A diagnosis of Cancer is always terrible news, but much can be done to treat it, prolong life, and deliver comfort to those beyond curative treatment. Beware of those promising miracle cures, and take time to care for yourself as well as your loved one.
