We are a Danish family moving to Lewes in August and have gotten a place in Hamsey School for my 4 year old. Their Ofsted is quite dated, could any one give me an opinion of the school, please? Heard good things from one lady.
Hope to hear from you....

My wife and I visited the school and were impressed by many things. The teachers seemed dedicated and I liked the new 'forest school' area where they learn outdoor skills. I also liked the small scale. In the end, we didn't send our child there because I changed workplaces and wouldn't have been able to take my son there and pick him up, otherwise I would have been happy for him to go there. I'm sure your child will be fine there.

thanks for the reply, sounds great. Do you know if there are more than average pupils with special needs? Also I haven't have a chance to see the school, are the facilities nice?

Hi Kirstine, my daughter is also starting at Hamsey in reception in September 2014. A few of us Mums have gathered each others email addresses (there were settling in sessions running up until last week where a few of us have now met) and plan on arranging a meet up for all the children on the last two tuesdays before term starts. If you would like to be involved then please do let me know your address and of course it would be lovely to meet you and your child also. And in answer to your question, they were expecting their Ofsted report this term so now expect it in the Autumn term. Seems like a lovely, though small school form my experience of it so far. Regards, Mugs

Hi Mugs
sounds great, we are in the process of moving down from London but if you want to send me your email to [email protected] I will get back to you as soon as we are in Lewes. Also would love to meet up on those days, just let me know where and when.
Thanks

As far as I know it's a good school. I went there in the 70's when there were 72 pupils in the whole school. I don't think there are many more now!

My children went there and were very happy. I also know of 2 families who have moved their children there now who live in Plumpton and switched from Plumpton to Hamsey School.
