There has been a lot of speculation that these permits have been issued people who shouldn't have them. Merlin is responding to the speculation.

Just a guess.

I said that I would find out about the permits. HS stands for High Street.

Thanks Merlin. Did ESCC give an explanation how people not resident in the HS Zone are qualifying for a permit in it, as I still want to know how to get one. Thanks!

Looks like you'll have to get a job on the council or start a window cleaning business, LR!

Thanks, Merlin. You're more persistent than me. The exceptions you list seem sensible and modest. Care workers also get a limited number of daily permits and I think people with disabled badges can use them in the High Street too. Not a deal clinching reason for marriage IMO but ACT may think otherwise.

Yes I think they're pretty reasonable exceptions to the rule.

Actually, I think that 90 365 days a year permits for Council employees does demand a little bit more scrutiny. If those 90 people are all using their passes every working day in Lewes, that is a vast number. I presume it is not as simple as that, but there are also LDC and ESCC car parks and staff parking that do not need permits. So I am a little more curious that others to know exactly how they are being used. Let us all remember that it is ESCC who were/still are helping out their own employees with advice about where to park in Lewes, creating problems for residents outside zones and allegedly ran/are sell running a shuttle bus too.
We want the Councils to be able to do their job, but unfortunately their record on parking has not won either Council the privilege of trust.
