I know there's an accident near the Curry Cottage at Offham, but why is the rest of the town gridlocked?
It's just taken well over an hour to get down to near the Elly and back up to Nevill, and my neighbour tells me the traffic is really bad going up Malling Hill as well.

Because all traffic going towards Offham on the A275 since the accident ocurred at 16.00 has been diverted back down Offham road into town. To find their own way north alongside the usual heavy traffic on the A26.
It must be something serious, as the road through Offham is still closed.

The road was closed for a long while. I hope those involved are ok and well done to the emergency services for managing the traffic as best they could.

Goodness, so it was just people struggling to find another way through town. Incredible how quickly the congestion can clog up everywhere.
I hope everyone involved in the accident is ok.

Sadly heard it was a fatality.
Highlights woefully inadequate infrastructure for the number of people using the roads.
Building more and more houses will see this sort of gridlock happening more often.

How awful. I feel bad for moaning about the traffic now.
You're right though, Grumbleweed, more houses = more people = more cars on the roads.
