Another election communication from the active Green candidate for Ringmer & Lewes Bridge. All about getting more affordable housing.
Does he not know that the ounty Council plays no role in providing housing (that is the District Council's job)?. The county provides education, roads and social care.
Or does he know that perfectly well, but have nothing to say about those issues, and is instead banking on us being pig ignorant about what the different councils do?

In the interest of balance, the same should be said of the Lib Dem local elections leaflet delivered to us in Southover recently - "Only the Tories or Lib Dems can win in Lewes", followed by the General Election results.
If they were to show the last ESCC elections in 2013, they would show ROK with a majority of 1800 over the Greens - which is actually a bigger majority than Caulfield had over Baker in the GE (1100). The Tories, meanwhile, finished last 450 behind the Greens.
So maybe it's not just the Lib Dems and Tories who can win the upcoming council elections...

The County Council is responsible for strategic planning. We need councillors who understand that the biggest issue for strategic planners is how to achieve the best housing mix. When it comes to housing, District Councils are only responsible for the micro management of the existing housing stock. Johnny Denis understands that.

The County Council is responsible for the Waste & Minerals plan. It has no role at all in deciding how many houses should be built in the county's Districts and Boroughs; no role at all in deciding where they should be built or what type they should be; and no role at all in deciding about, building or managing affordable housing.

ESCC Voter, the District Council write the Local Plan which determines the number and location of houses in the District and they plus the SDNP are the Planning Authority. The District also owns and manages 2,300 council houses and makes nominations to these and most of the housing association stock in the District. Green Sludge makes an allegation about Johnnie Denis' letting arrangements. Is he able to document that? If not he should withdraw it.
