Good evening pub grub

I have some colleagues staying in Lewes for a couple of nights next week and they have asked advice on evening meals in pubs in town. Because of young children it is a few years since we went to a pub for an evening meal - any current recommendations??
Thanks

These days you're spoilt for choice. At my end of town there's the Kings Head - good local produce prepared with skill and flair - and the Swan which is doing a great job producing great food at really competitive prices. The Kings Head has a gastropub feel, while the Swan is a lovely old fashioned boozer. The Pelham Arms is pretty good too - a similar style to the Kings Head, I'd say.

We've always had good cooking and service at the King's Head, at which customers can choose a set-apart dining area which is, nevertheless, not cut off from the main bar. Dining at the Pelham Arms can be near the bar or in a separate room: large tables are available there, too. The Lewes Arms is reliable and fresh, though can feel a little crowded sometimes. However, it's a pub of true character. Southover Queen echoes the many comments I've heard lately about the food at The Swan.

I know I'm biased, but with 2 meals for £10 every weekday at the Elephant and Castle I think we're pretty much the best value for money.
Unfortunately we only do evening meals Tuesday-Thursday.

The Ellie is excellent, and I'm not biased.

I was disappointed on my visit to the Kings Head - very expensive for what it was. Friendly staff but in my opinion the least atmosphere or character of any Lewes pub. Pelham Arms has never let me down, nor the Ellie. Snowdrop has felt hit and miss.

My B&B is close to the Kings Head so I regularly send my guests there. I can honestly say that I've never had anything but glowing reports of the food from them. I've also been suggesting the Swan lately and the feedback is equally enthusiastic - the Swan's quite a bit cheaper, so if it's good quality pub grub you seek then maybe that's the place to go.

Thanks for all your feedback, will probably go to the Ellie. Never tried that one before.
