I think this is probably a post mainly for women - men probably don't notice!
Do any of you dread opening a card kindly sent by friend or family to find it has been thoroughly sprayed in tiny glitter. Immediately it is all over your hands, on the carpet, and on any other place it may be near. Even if you wash your hands really thoroughly before making the mince pies, you will some of it has crept onto the pastry. Is it edible? After months of vacuuming, you may still find some of it winking at you from carpets or furniture. This year I have come to a decision: I read those cards with gratitude and kind thoughts towards the sender. I then put them into a large envelope to spend their Christmas just contaminating each other.
Does anyone agree?

I know exactly what you mean. The person in front of me at the checkout in a well known budget supermarket near Tesco's had bought a glitter encrusted mini christmas tree. The conveyor belt was twinkling with it......as was all my shopping and I daresay the shopping and clothing of the next fifty customers behind me. If I'd had thought quickly enough I would have bought a throwaway carrier bag to put my goods in so it didn't spread everywhere when I got home and unpacked. Three days hoovering later and I still haven't got it all out of the sofa and the carpet and my trusty hand woven, twine shopping bag is ruined.

Sorry to hear that, dear. Perhaps after Christmas you would like to look at my range of twine and yogurt backpacks, guaranteed glitter free.

Latest on the hit list of the environment squad. It's tiny bits of plastic, so terrible for the fish etc. Soon to be banned I'm guessing.
