I need some help. Advice on somewhere I can buy/hire/borrow a victorian gentlemans hat. I need it desperately as I have a good victorian costume which requires a nice hat to set it off. I'd be grateful for your help.

There's the Vintage Shirt Company near the Lewes Arms and The Costume Store at 16 Station St (ring first as they are a mail order company 01273 479727) Both sell nice period hats.
Genuine Victorian hats are usually on the small side so l wouldn't bother looking unless you have a smaller than average head.

Thank you both for your advice. Musher - You are quite right they had smaller heads in those times. I have a 7.3/8 head so I have little chance of getting a genuine victorian hat to fit but am hoping I can get a reproduction of one that is larger. I will try both the suggestions.

There's a wonderful hat shop on Trafalgar St in Brighton.
