My gas and electricity supplier put gas prices up 47 per cent in 2008 and electricity by 28 per cent. Now theyve announced theyll be going down at the end of March (just as the cold eases off) by 4 per cent and 9 per cent. So, its not only the bankers who are sharks. Will we ever get these people off our backs?

I understood that this was favoured by wannabegreenies as the wood comes from "sustainable sources". I've always argued that the green agenda is dominated by wealth - and is defended by those who can afford to ignore it.

I shall carry on using gas and oil as (as far as I'm concerned) they come from sustainable sources too (the logic being that all carbon life on this planet will eventually become gas and oil - in fact the obese shall greatly replenish the Earth's supplies)

Only the rich can afford to be green, the rest of us have to shop in Tesco

But will we do it quickly enough, before it all runs out, or should the lardier among us top ourselves now in the public interest?

I bet Lady Tesco never shops in Tesco - unless there's a branch in Tel Aviv.
