LDC are fighting the community stadium at Falmer again. What a nice waste of our rate money. Try asking for the verges around the town to be cut next summer. They wont be able to afford it.

Suggest we all politely hassle the council members responsible for losing their rattles over the side of their prams on this one(has anyone got a list from the front of the Argus the other day?)

As I understand it, 2 professional planning inspectors were against the scheme, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (please do not discuss the aesthetics of the area) would be built upon contrary to planning law. LDC is only defending what is law. It is about principle - the sentiment is that if one let's this pass what will be imposed in the future. I understand people's anger about the delay and use of local money - but given the legal position what would you do???

LDC were quite happy to let the albion build on toad hole valley which is an AONB but not in falmer which is just about to become outside the boundary of the south downs national park

Toad's Hole Valey is, I believe, not part of the Lewes District. I think it comes under Brighton and Hove.

Well Councillor Mog I think you will find that although Falmer Village is within the confines of LDC the proposed site of the stadium is actually within the boundaries of Brighton and Hove. Therefore not only are our elected members guilty of a massive waste of public funds they are also trying to stick their oar in where it is not wanted.
What is it with the Falmer residents and the council? When Falmer says jump they all cry "How high Sir?".
Of all the places crying out for parking restrictions who gets theirs almost immediately? Yep you guessed it Falmer. The cynic in me wonders if money is changing hands.
I offer a compromise, Newhaven or Peacehaven can have a much wanted community stadium and Falmer can have a sewage works or an incinerator.
Some people do not realise how lucky they are.
