is it just me, or has the traffic calming in Friars Walk been filled in with a layer of tarmac, instead of digging the old layer out? The road seems flat now, there are dips where the drains are, and tarmac is overflowing the kerb. how much did they pour on there?!

The same's been done in Southover High Street and we received a notice from A Private Ltd Company that used to be ESCC Highways Dept. The notice said explicitly that the old tarmac would not be removed to save costs - the new tarmac would be laid on top. Even before this, I had regularly seen cars and lorries driving fast along the pavement for several yards, using it as an extension of the road. Watch out for pedestrian injuries very soon.

so basically the traffic calming has been effectively removed by rtramacing it all level, and pedestrian danger has been increased? So what does the relevent Councillor have to say about this breach of policy? (hushed silence).........

I feel that the height of one of the bumps on Southover High Street (possibly the one closest to the Swan) makes for a very violent ride now (even at 5mph)
