Fracking outside Lewes in Balcombe

Looks like some cracking is about to start near Lewes, if any of the reports on CNN and cracking in Ohio are to go by this looks like a really bad idea. Ohio has just banned tracking due to the earthquakes it causes.
The company due to start in Balcombe admits it causes earthquakes, yet says it really won't pollute the nice fresh groundwater, we promise.

And right at the head of the Sussex Ouse too, the river that provides much of our drinking water. The continuing gross expansion of the human race makes the sourcing of power ever more desperate.

Love it, my spell check cannot handle fracking and replaces it with cracking.
Don't love fracking .... Read the CNN report below

The proposed fracking will be in Balcombe which is not very near to Lewes. Are you perhaps thinking of Barcombe which is just outside Lewes?

I wonder where our drinking water comes from....?
.And no I am not thinking of Barcombe, that would be silly.
Aquifers are quite big and rather near the Ouse....hmm, I wonder what could possibly go wrong....

Ardingly reservoir provides drinking water to over 65,000 homes in East and West Sussex. Ardingly is filled by the Sussex Ouse. Balcombe is near the head of the Sussex Ouse, and above Ardingly reservoir.

The fracking site is less than two small fields away from the river. It is a crazy place to explode the rock sub-strata. Whoever suggested it and whoever is allowing it in our names should be taken outside and shot. At the very least their motives (and their heads) need to be examined.

deelite I think we can imagine the kind of people and their motives , fracking near Lewes is insane and only the insane would still agree to it after what happened up North. Sadly as you know..we mustn't let anything get between common sense and the needs of business.

There is also this rather large Victorian brick viaduct thingy at Balcombe.
Doesn't look as if it would stand up to an earthquake well.
Mind you, if London was cut off from Sussex, would that be a bad thing?
