Forward Traffic planning ?

Is there any strategic forward planning to take into account the increase of traffic flowing through Lewes ? Especially, the High Street and through roads in the town. It's often appalling already now, another 5 years and we will be able to walk it quicker. Multi drop vans, coaches of day trippers, dray lorries, taxis, school buses, disabled drivers all stop wherever they like, causing havoc on narrow roads, oblivious to the yellow lines. New homes being built as I type too. Flats converted over shops. The traffic situation has got worse over the last 5 years it needs looking at.

Yes there is. They're going to build houses with no parking and put up a few cycle racks. That should sort it......

Minor traffic survey every few months to every few years (counting cars), but otherwise no. Government policy is not to develop roads (god knows where they think all the electric cars are going to go). But given the cost of roads, about £1 million per mile (not including buying the land) it's not a surprise.
On the plus side, you can fit a lot more self driving cars on a road safely than you can driver controlled cars.

48% of the population are going to stop moaning and move to Germany in a couple of years so there'll be plenty of room for cars on the roads then.

I'm with deja vu. The benefits of self driving cars are huge. Looking forward to them. Happy to make do till then.
Sure, the roads aren't great but I'd rather see money spent on other things in the meantime.
