Has anyone else had the same problem? My wife and I have flu jabs and the last 2 years we have both had nasty colds, coughs, sore throats and this year It seems more like " flu", 3 colds in close succession , and we are drained. This happens about a week after the jab. I have heard that this has happened to other people.

The nurse explained to me,while giving the flu jab, that it takes your body at least two weeks to build up the immunity obtained from the jab. She said people always complain that they get ‘flu’ straight after the jab, but it is not the jab. You have just been unlucky enough to get a cold or flu before the flue jab has kicked in properly. There seem to be a lot of nasty colds about at the moment.

You may, like me have a vulnerable/low immune system - hence the jab - a couple of years ago the jab floored me ! This year it was OK. I don't bang on about my condition, but for the record I've got arthritis all over - have to say the NHS has been brilliant over many years. (I like to use "gallows humour" hence my title of Raspberry Ripple )

Thank you raspberry "ripple". They change the jab each year according to what's happening in the rest of the world like Australia, they have had a bad time with flu this year. I was floored last xmas, had my jab early this year and have had bad chest 3 times since September so that's why I was enquiring .

I had the flu jab and didn't get a cold or anything around it, however, a couple of my friends swear they always get ill from it.
The adult flu jab is not a live vaccine, therefore you cannot get flu from it. The children's flu liquid (that goes up the nose) is a live vaccine so I think it could be possible to catch it from a child if you both went at the same time to get it
